Description

Zoom on the Champion 100719

In summary, the Champion 100719 is a powerful portable inverter generator especially useful for:

  • Food van owners who know that just a short power outage could lose them hundreds of dollars
  • Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures
  • Tailgating and campground aficionados with the desire of enjoying power anywhere they go
  • Professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from, and any relevant emission compliance details.

Power & Run Time

The Champion 100719 in use

The Champion 100719

The Champion 100719 is powered by a 420 cc OHV 4-stroke engine. It delivers 120/240V, runs on gasoline and offers a running wattage of 7,000W as well as a peak wattage of 8,500W.

The inverter generator features a simple traditional pull-start mechanism and also a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). It is rated for a noise of 61 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation). Champion’s EZ Start Dial lets you intuitively start the engine with easy access to all the controls you need.

The fuel capacity of 5.3 gallons allows the 100719 to operate for up to 14 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.38 GPH).

As the 100719 produces a clean sine wave, with a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), sensitive electronics may be plugged in the AC outlets safely.

Outlets

The control panel features the upcoming 5 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle

It also sports 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle allowing you to easily charge your batteries. Since a dual port USB adapter is included with the unit, you will also be able to use the DC receptacle to conveniently charge electronics such as mobile phones and tablets.

As the 100719 holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.

Portability

Since the Champion 100719 is an inverter generator, its closed design (L33.4 x W29.1 x H26 in) has an esthetical advantage over conventional, open frame devices. The generator has a contemporary design, convenient for recreationally generating power.

While the generator is considered to be technically 'portable' (in the sense that you can move it), manually lifting and transporting it may be challenging, due to its high weight of 211.6 lbs. However, its challenging mobility is solved by its set of wheels (⌀9.5") and its folding handle, which will ease its displacement, once it is on the floor.

Features

The 100719's control panel

One of the many 100719's features is the Intelligauge data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the frequency, lifetime run hours and voltage and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status.

In addition to this info, the device’s light indicator will display if its oil levels are insufficient.

The fuel level of the inverter generator can be determined quickly, easily, and conveniently with the help of its built-in fuel gauge.

From a security standpoint, the product offers an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.

The unit also benefits from the CO Shield™ technology, which monitors accumulation of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas produced by the engine's exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield™ detects elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine and illuminates a red LED.

While the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the Champion 100719, the following accessories are also included: funnel, RV adapter, battery charging cables, dual port USB adapter and oil.

Emissions

The Champion 100719 is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. It can therefore be sold and purchased in all 50 states, including California.

Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, making it usable in forested areas.

The unit also meets the ANSI/PGMA G300-2018 safety and performance requirements.

The Champion 100719 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 100719 compare to generators of similar power (between 6500 and 7500 W).

  • A weight of 211.6 lbs makes the Champion 100719 one of the heavier devices in the 6500-7500 rated wattage range. If weight is your top priority, one of the champions in this power category is the Sportsman GEN85KIDF, weighing just 133 pounds.
  • As its lowest possible noise is rated at 61 dBA, this inverter generator qualifies as one of the more quiet of the products of similar power. For those who are looking for a less noisy device, we suggest the Powerhorse 7500i. With just 55 dBA, it is one of the most quiet devices in this power range.
  • As for its autonomy, the 100719, with an autonomy of up to 14 hours at a 25% load, is placed on the low end among the generators of its kind. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the DuroMax XP8500EH, as it provides up to 25 hours.
  • While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank's capacity and thus, doesn't say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. This inverter generator reaches an estimated fuel consumption of 0.38 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 25% load, making it average, for the previously mentioned wattage range. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the DuroMax XP7500DX, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.29 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 6500-7500W inverter generators, the Champion 100719 is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
