In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability and any additional features of the device, along with its emission compliance parameters.

Power & Run Time

The Champion 100263

With its dual-fuel technology, the powerful and versatile Champion 100263 provides an output of 120V. While gasoline-powered, it gives a running wattage of 3100W along with a peak wattage of 3400W. While propane-powered, it provides 2790 rated watts and 3060 starting watts. Moreover, since it is parallel capable (ParaLINK not included), its power may be doubled if linked to a second compatible unit.

With a noise rating of 59 dBA (less noisy than a conversation at home), the inverter generator features a conventional pull-start mechanism, but also a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included).

With a fuel capacity of 1.6 gallon, the 100263 can operate for up to 7.5 hours using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.21 GPH), or for up to 14.5 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.32 GPH) using propane.

Sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets, as the 100263 produces a clean sine wave, with a <3% Total Harmonic Disruption (THD).

The generator will allow you to simultaneously power various devices, for example:Note: The above mentioned examples presume a maximum load of 75% and use wattage estimates. In addition, the items might not be able to start simultaneously. With our wattage calculator, you can predict if the product can fulfill your requirements.

Outlets

The control panel includes the following 3 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R)
120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle

Additionally, it features 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A receptacle with which charging your batteries is made easy.

This Champion generator is RV Ready, thanks to its TT-30R receptacle (TT stands for 'Travel Trailer').

Portability

As the Champion 100263 is an inverter generator, its encased design (L25.1 x W17.3 x H18.3 in) offers more esthetics than a conventional, open frame product. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.

The 100263 can be taken anywhere with you, thanks to its weight of 95.7 lbs. Additionally, it can be easily moved with the help of a wheel kit (⌀5.5") and a folding handle, once it is on the ground.

From a security standpoint, the product offers an automatic low oil shut-off, allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.

Apart from the typical documentation and a user manual, which lets you start it right away, the Champion 100263 also is packed along with the following accessories: propane hose and dual port USB adapter.

Emissions

The Champion 100263 is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. It can therefore be sold and purchased in all 50 states, including California.

The Champion 100263 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 100263 compare to generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).

  • Since the generator weighs in at a dry weight of 95.7 lbs, the Champion 100263 belongs in the expected weight range for devices which can produce between 2500 and 3500 rated watts. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above mentioned power range is the Honda EG2800i, with a dry weight of just 66.6 pounds.
  • As its lowest possible noise is rated at 59 dBA, this inverter generator qualifies as one of the more quiet of the products of similar power. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Honda EU3000iS with only 50 dBA.
  • Regarding its autonomy, the autonomy of the 100263, reaching 7.5 hours at a 25% load, can be considered as low end, compared to other products of a roughly equal output. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the Honda EU3000iS, reaching 20 hours.
  • While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank’s capacity and thus, doesn’t say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. Compared to its peers, this inverter generator is not exactly fuel efficient, compared to similarly powerful devices, with an estimated fuel consumption of 0.21 GPH at a 25% load. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the Energizer eZV3200P. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.13 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.

Price comparison

As you can see from this dynamic chart, when compared to other 2500-3500W generators, the Champion 100263 is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
