Zoom on the Champion 100111

In short, the Champion 100111 is a powerful portable generator adequately designed for professionals in need of safely powering high-intensity work or lighting equipment..

In the upcoming sections, you'll discover its power characteristics, the array of outlets it presents, its overall portability, and the additional features it possesses.

Power & Run Time

The Champion 100111 in use

The Champion 100111

The Champion 100111's design includes a gasoline-fueled 717 cc Champion 4-stroke V-Twin engine. With a 120/240V output, it gives a running wattage of 12,000W and also a peak wattage of 15,000W.

With a noise rating of 78 dBA (less noisy than a vacuum cleaner), the generator features a user-friendly and hassle-free electric starter (battery included).

With a full tank, the 100111 can operate for around 9 hours at 50% load (fuel consumption around 1.21 GPH), thanks to its fuel capacity of 10.9 gallons.

As the 100111 exhibits a THD of less than 20%, which is high, it is best avoided for powering sensitive electronic devices.

Outlets

The control panel features the upcoming 7 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

While this Champion generator is not RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle can be used for a simple RV connection with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, due to the featured twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the 100111 is transfer switch ready: you may connect it to a breaker box to power your household during a power outage.

Portability

At L33.9 x W31.1 x H33.1 in, the Champion 100111 boasts a traditional open frame structure, ensuring stability and allowing for convenient maintenance access to components, promoting air circulation. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.

Despite its weight of 329.6 lbs, the generator is considered 'portable,' signifying its capability to be moved, albeit its heaviness may hinder easy transport. Nevertheless, the restricted maneuverability is counteracted by its wheel kit (⌀12") and its folding handle, enabling easy shifting once the generator is set in place.

In addition, the device is equipped with a lift hook on the top of its frame, which provides extra safety during the loading, unloading and transport of the generator.

Features

The 100111's control panel

To help you monitor the 100111's status and activity, its control panel is equipped with an Intelligauge meter showing you voltage, frequency and lifetime hours.

The fuel level of the generator can be determined quickly, easily, and conveniently with the help of its built-in fuel gauge.

As far as security is concerned, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during use. Champion's built-in surge protector (Volt Guard™) safeguards your equipment and appliances against voltage spikes.

Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the Champion 100111 is bundled with additional accessories: funnel and oil. An official storage cover is also available, as a separate purchase.

The Champion 100111 versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Champion 100111 compare to generators of similar power (between 10000 and 14000 W).

  • With a weight of 329.6 lbs, the Champion 100111 is notably on the heavier side among generators in the 10000-14000 rated wattage range. If you are mindful of weight, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI is among the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 218 pounds.
  • When comparing it to devices with a similar running wattage, this generator's lowest noise level of 78 dBA puts it alongside the noisier units. If noise is a concern for you, you could consider the DuroMax XP16000iH, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, rated at 67 dBA.
  • The 100111's autonomy is somewhat low end compared to devices of its power range, as it reaches only around 9 hours at 50% load on a full tank. For those prioritizing autonomy, the Powerhorse 13000ES could be considered, as it offers one of the longest run times among generators with similar power output, reaching around 15 hours.
  • Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. In fact, this generator is not one of the most fuel-efficient options in the aforementioned wattage range: its estimated gasoline consumption at 50% load is around 1.21 GPH. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the A-iPower SUA13000EFI. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.78 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 10000-14000W generators, the Champion 100111 is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

100111 Had to spend 1.5 hours on phone mostly on hold waiting to get Champion tech to help me get service for the brand new never used generator. Motor runs but no power. When Champion tech got a repair facility for me to take it to . The repair place has it for a week and still has not touched it. If you buy something you have an expectation that it will do what it was made for. I guess this is good for a small boat anchor

    + PROS:
    • Has 50 Amp Plug
    - CONS:
    • Brand new out of the crate it makes no power and the 5 function Intel Gauge display nothing there
