Equipped with InfoHub™ Portable Power, it lets you monitor vital information from the comfort of your home or office.

Zoom on the Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite

In summary, the Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite is a portable generator especially useful for:

  • Food truck owners who want to ensure that their business is fully self-contained and does not rely on potentially unreliable external power
  • Homeowners in need of an emergency backup power for their essentials
  • Professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from, and any relevant emission compliance details.

Power & Run Time

The Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite in use

The Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite

The Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite's engine, 420 cc Briggs & Stratton OHV 4-stroke, fueled by gasoline, can deliver 120/240V. It provides a running wattage of 8000W and reaches a peak wattage of 10000W.

This generator features a simple traditional pull-start mechanism and also a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included).

The fuel capacity of 7.5 gallons allows the 30679 Elite to operate for around 9 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.83 GPH).

Outlets

The control panel includes the following 5 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle

As the 30679 Elite holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.

Portability

The dimensions of the Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite, which are L34.8 x W22.3 x H26 in, and its typical, open frame design provides stability and enables the generator to be raised above ground level. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.

Although this generator is technically considered 'portable' (in the sense that it can be moved), its 224 lbs make it incredibly difficult to manually lift and transport. However, this lack of maneuverability is compensated by its wheel kit (⌀12") and its folding handle, with which you can conveniently shift it, once it's on the ground.

The fuel level of the generator can be determined quickly, easily, and conveniently with the help of its built-in fuel gauge.

As far as security is concerned, the generator can be used with a peace of mind, as it features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off.

Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite also is packed along with the following accessories: battery charger and oil.

However, it features a spark arrestor, making it usable in forested areas.

The Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite compare to generators of similar power (between 7500 and 8500 W).

  • A weight of 224 lbs makes the Briggs & Stratton 30679 Elite one of the heavier devices in the 7500-8500 rated wattage range. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the Dewalt DXGNR8000, with a dry weight of just 183 pounds.
  • The 30679 Elite's autonomy is somewhat low end compared to devices of its power range, as it reaches only around 9 hours at 50% load on a full tank. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the Champion 100416, reaching around 12.5 hours.
  • Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. This generator is somewhat less fuel efficient than devices of comparable output: its estimated fuel consumption reaches 0.83 GPH at a 50% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the Westinghouse WPro8500, with a fuel consumption of 0.55 GPH could be in your good books.

The bottom line

  • InfoHub™ monitoring
WEAKNESSES:
