Description

Zoom on the Atima SD1000i

In summary, the Atima SD1000i is a quiet, compact and lightweight portable inverter generator especially useful for:

  • Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
  • Handcrafting enthusiasts who wish to work on-the-go

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from, and any relevant emission compliance details.

Power & Run Time

The Atima SD1000i in use

The Atima SD1000i

The Atima SD1000i's engine, 53.2 cc 144F OHV 4-stroke, fueled by gasoline, can deliver 120V. It provides a running wattage of 900W and reaches a peak wattage of 1000W. Moreover, since it is parallel capable (Atima AGC103 parallel kit (opens in a new tab) not included), its power may be doubled if linked to a second compatible unit.

The inverter generator features a conventional pull-start mechanism. It is rated for a noise of 52 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a conversation at home).

With a fuel capacity of 0.7 gallon, the SD1000i may run for up to 9 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.08 GPH).

The SD1000i produces a clean sine wave: thanks to a <3% Total Harmonic Disruption (THD), your sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets.

Outlets

The control panel features the upcoming 2 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R)

Additionally, it features 1 DC outlet: there's a 5V USB port with which you may charge electronics, for example mobile phones or tablets, conveniently.

Portability

The Atima SD1000i's characteristic encased inverter generator design (L18.5 x W10.2 x H15.2 in), provides an esthetical advantage over any ordinary, open frame product. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.

Weighing just 30.9 lbs, the SD1000i can be considered a lightweight portable generator. As it can be moved by a single person without much effort, the generator and its power can be enjoyed on-the-go. In addition, a handle (molded in the case) lets you carry it easily and further increases its convenience.

Features

The device’s light indicators will display if the generator is ready, the oil level is too low and the generator is overloaded.

As for its security measures, the device features an automatic low oil shut-off, letting you use it with a peace of mind.

Accessory-wise, along with the previously mentioned features, the Atima SD1000i is packaged with the standard documentation and an owner's manual, helping you start the device right away.

Emissions

The Atima SD1000i is CARB-compliant. It can therefore be sold and purchased in all 50 states, including California.

Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, which makes it suitable for use in forested areas.

The Atima SD1000i versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the Atima SD1000i compare to generators of similar power (between 500 and 1500 W).

  • In terms of its dry weight, the Atima SD1000i stands at only 30.9 lbs, meaning that is one of the lighter devices of the 500-1500 rated wattage category In terms of weight, one of the champions in their power range is the Sportsman GEN1000i, standing at just 20.3 lbs.
  • Since this inverter generator is rated for a lowest possible noise of 52 dBA, it can be considered as one of the more quiet of the products generating similar power. For those who are looking for a less noisy device, we suggest the Honda EU1000i. With just 42 dBA, it is one of the most quiet devices in this power range.
  • Given that the SD1000i reaches an autonomy of up to 9 hours with a full tank and at 25% load, it is placed within the average autonomy range of similarly powerful generators. Concerning the run times, one of the several devices with a comparable output, offering the highest autonomy, is the Yamaha EF1000iS, which is able to run for up to 11.9 hours.
  • Autonomy holds its importance, however, it is largely dependent on the generator’s fuel capacity and so, it is nonsensible to discuss it without mentioning fuel efficiency as well. Standing at an estimated 0.08 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 25% load, this inverter generator is somewhat average in this area compared to other devices, within the aforementioned wattage range. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.06 GPH, the Yamaha EF1000iS is a device you should look out for.

The bottom line

STRENGTHS:
  • Parallel capable

About Atima

Atima brand is owned by the Shanghai Cosmo company, a newcomer to the portable generator market, founded just recently in 2010. However, they have a lot going for them, due to their instantly recognizable black and white design, one of the most good-looking that we have encountered over the years, and a hidden gem inside some of their models – a genuine Yamaha engine. The company focuses exclusively on inverter generators, and unlike many manufacturers isn’t shy or secretive about their origin – China. Atima offers a 2-year warranty on all their products, a 30-day return policy, and promises great customer service overall.

Warranty Information

The Atima SD1000i is covered under a warranty for up to 2 years. This warranty may be limited and may not cover all parts of the generator.
For more information about the warranty of Atima generators, please consult Atima's warranty policies (opens in a new tab). Alternatively, you can also contact their Customer Support: 1-844-428-6922.
