Zoom on the A-iPower SUA9000E

In summary, the A-iPower SUA9000E is a portable generator especially useful for:

  • Food truck owners and participants of outdoor events, competitions, concerts and festivals
  • Professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working

The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from and any relevant emission compliance details.

Power & Run Time

The A-iPower SUA9000E houses a 420 cc (14 hp) A-iPower OHV 4-stroke engine, which provides 120/240V, consumes gasoline and delivers a running wattage of 7250W along with a peak wattage of 9000W.

Enjoying a noise rating of 76 dBA (less noisy than a shower), this generator can be started thanks to a simple traditional pull-start mechanism, but also to a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included).

The SUA9000E can operate for around 8.5 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.82 GPH), due to its fuel capacity of 7 gallons.

Here are a few examples of what this generator could allow you to simultaneously power:Note: The examples above are based on a maximum load of 75% and estimated wattages. The devices also may not be able to start at the same time. For a more accurate estimation, use our wattage calculator.

Outlets

The control panel provides the upcoming 6 AC outlets:

Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle

It also sports 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle allowing you to easily charge your batteries.

This A-iPower generator isn't quite RV Ready, but it features an L5-30R receptacle, allowing a simple RV connection through an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, due to the featured twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the SUA9000E is transfer switch ready: you may connect it to a breaker box to power your household during a power outage.

Portability

With its dimensions of L27.5 x W26 x H26 in, the conventional, open frame design of the A-iPower SUA9000E offers stability and allows the generator to be raised above ground level. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.

Since the generator weighs 201.7 lbs, it will be incredibly difficult to manually lift it and transport it, even though it is technically considered to 'be portable' (in the sense that it is movable). However, this lack of maneuverability is compensated by a wheel kit (⌀9") and a folding handle, with which you can conveniently displace it, once it's on the ground.

Features

The SUA9000E's control panel

An illuminated data center, one of the features of the SUA9000E’s control panel, gives you information on the lifetime run hours, and thus, is helpful for the monitoring of its activity and status.

In addition to this info, a light indicator shows you if the oil level is too low.

The generator includes a built-in fuel gauge, a quick, easy and convenient method of checking the device’s gas level.

As for its security measures, the device features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, letting you use it with a peace of mind.

While the standard documentation and a user manual, helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the A-iPower SUA9000E, the following accessories are also included: battery charging cables, tool kit and oil.

Emissions

The A-iPower SUA9000E is EPA approved, but NOT CARB-compliant. Thus, it cannot be purchased or sold in California.

Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, which makes it suitable for use in forested areas.

The A-iPower SUA9000E versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA9000E compare to generators of similar power (between 6500 and 7500 W).

  • Having a dry weight of 201.7 lbs, the A-iPower SUA9000E belongs in the expected weight range for generators which produce 6500 to 7500 rated watts. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the Lifan LF7250, with a dry weight of only 140 lbs.
  • When compared to devices able to produce a similar running wattage, this generator and its lowest emitted noise of 76 dBA is on the noisier side. If noise emissions are one of your priorities, you may be interested in the Lifan ESI 7000iER-EFI, one of the least noisy generators similarly powerful as this one, rated for 59 dBA.
  • Regarding its autonomy, the autonomy of the SUA9000E, reaching 8.5 hours at a 50% load, can be considered as low end, compared to other products of a roughly equal output. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the Pulsar PG7500B, with 13 hours .
  • While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank’s capacity and thus, doesn’t say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. This generator is rather wasteful, compared to other devices within the aforementioned output range, when it comes to gasoline consumption, as it reaches roughly 0.82 GPH at a 50% load. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the Lifan ESI 7000iER-EFI, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.38 GPH, may be the right generator for you.

Price comparison

As you can see from this dynamic chart, when compared to other 6500-7500W generators, the A-iPower SUA9000E is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
