Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.
Power & Run Time
The A-iPower SUA4300iD, equipped with dual-fuel technology and delivering 120V, ensures both power and versatility. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 3,450W and a starting wattage of 4,300W. On propane, it provides 3,100 running watts and 3,900 starting watts. Additionally, as the generator is parallel capable (PK6000 parallel kit not included), it can be linked to a second unit for more power.
A-iPower’s Fuel Sense technology automatically selects the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) depending on availability and prioritizes LPG. Thus, if a propane tank with enough LPG is connected, the generator will automatically use LPG. If the propane cylinder valve is closed, or if there is not enough LPG remaining in the tank, the generator will use gasoline.
Operating with a noise level of 62 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an office), the inverter generator starts up via a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism.
The SUA4300iD, with a fuel capacity of 1.6 gallon, reaches a run time of up to 7.5 hours utilizing gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.21 GPH). Alternatively, it can reach a run time of up to 11 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 0.43 GPH) with propane.
Featuring a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the SUA4300iD delivers a clean sine wave, guaranteeing the safety of your sensitive electronics plugged into its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 3 AC outlets:
Moreover, it boasts 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle allowing you to easily charge your batteries. Since a dual port USB adapter is included with the unit, you will also be able to use the DC receptacle to conveniently charge electronics such as mobile phones and tablets.
Even though this A-iPower generator isn't quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle allows an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor (included).
Portability
As an inverter generator, the A-iPower SUA4300iD showcases a closed design (L22.2 x W14.4 x H20.3 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring quieter operation compared to conventional, open frame models. The featured design follows the latest trends and is ideal for easy and recreational use.
With a dry weight of 54.8 lbs, the SUA4300iD can easily follow you wherever your power needs are. Moreover, its set of 2 wheels and its telescopic handle make it easy to shift the generator once it's on the ground.
Features
Featuring a digital data center on its control panel, the SUA4300iD offers you convenient access to essential information about the voltage, lifetime run hours, power output, fuel level and frequency, facilitating effective monitoring of its activity and status. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, the generator's light indicators provide visual feedback when the generator is ready, the oil level is too low and the generator is overloaded.
As far as security is concerned, the generator can be used with a peace of mind, as it features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker).
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Apart from the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to facilitate setup, the A-iPower SUA4300iD features extra accessories: dual port USB adapter, funnel, tool kit, RV adapter, propane hose, oil and battery charging cables.
The A-iPower SUA4300iD versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA4300iD compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- In terms of its weight, the A-iPower SUA4300iD weighs merely 54.8 pounds, earning it a spot among the lighter inverter generators within the 2500 to 3500 rated wattage category. If weight is your top priority, one of the champions in this power category is the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, weighing just 46 pounds.
- The inverter generator can be considered average in its noise for its type and power category, as it is rated at 62 dBA. If noise emissions are important to you, one of the least noisy generators of this power range is the Honda EU3000iS with only 50 dBA.
- As far as autonomy is concerned, providing up to 7.5 hours of runtime with a full tank at a 25% load, the SUA4300iD falls into the low end in comparison with other inverters of a comparable power output. If you wish to prioritize autonomy, the Champion 200977 shines as one of the top contenders, offering one of the highest run times among generators with similar power output, totaling up to 22 hours.
- Run time is a key metric, but it's dependent on the generator's fuel capacity. Therefore, discussing fuel efficiency is necessary to get the full picture. Compared to similar devices, this inverter generator is less fuel-efficient than most: it burns around 0.21 gallons of gasoline per hour at a 25% load. If minimizing fuel usage is one of your key priorities, the Honda EU3200i is one of the most efficient devices with similar power output, with a gasoline consumption of only 0.14 gallons per hour.
