Description
Zoom on the A-iPower SUA2301iD
In a few words, the A-iPower SUA2301iD is a compact and lightweight portable inverter generator perfectly suited for:
- Camping and tailgating buffs looking to enhance their experience
- Amateur DIY lovers
- RV travellers looking for even more independence
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the A-iPower SUA2301iD provides a 120V output and offers both versatility and power. When utilizing gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 1,800W and a starting wattage of 2,300W. Alternatively, when operating on propane, it provides 1,600 running watts and 2,000 starting watts. Additionally, the parallel capability (parallel kit included) facilitates doubling of power output when linked to another similar or compatible unit, offering enhanced energy capacity and reliability for diverse requirements.
A-iPower’s Fuel Sense technology automatically selects the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) depending on availability and prioritizes LPG. Thus, if a propane tank with enough LPG is connected, the generator will automatically use LPG. If the propane cylinder valve is closed, or if there is not enough LPG remaining in the tank, the generator will use gasoline.
Featuring a noise rating of 62 dBA (just slightly more noisy than background music), the inverter generator utilizes a simple traditional pull-start mechanism for ignition.
With a fuel capacity of 0.9 gallon, the SUA2301iD can operate for up to 9 hours using gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.1 GPH). Unfortunately, and despite our research efforts, we couldn't find any information regarding its runtime when using propane.
Featuring a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the SUA2301iD delivers a clean sine wave, guaranteeing the safety of your sensitive electronics plugged into its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 3 AC outlets:
Moreover, it presents 3 DC outlets: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle allowing you to easily charge your batteries and two 5V USB ports (1 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C) with which you may charge electronics, for example mobile phones or tablets, conveniently.
While not classified as 'RV Ready,' this A-iPower generator can still provides the advantage of RV connection via its L5-30R receptacle, ensuring power supply to your RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor (included).
Portability
As an inverter generator, the A-iPower SUA2301iD showcases a closed design (L21.5 x W12.8 x H21.1 in), enhancing aesthetics and ensuring quieter operation compared to conventional, open frame models. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
Since the SUA2301iD weighs only 46.2 lbs, it can be labeled as a portable lightweight generator. Thanks to its lightweight design, one person can easily move it around, ensuring power availability wherever you travel. Its telescopic handle makes carrying it a simple task, further enhancing its convenience.
Features
Featuring a digital data center on its control panel, the SUA2301iD offers you convenient access to essential information about the frequency, fuel level, lifetime run hours, power output and voltage, facilitating effective monitoring of its activity and status. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, the light indicators show you if the generator is overloaded and the oil level is too low.
From a security standpoint, the generator is furnished with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), ensuring peace of mind during operation.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Along the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), useful for starting the generator right away, the A-iPower SUA2301iD's package also includes these accessories: funnel, battery charging cables, tool kit, RV adapter, oil and propane hose.
The A-iPower SUA2301iD versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA2301iD compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- Having a dry weight of 46.2 lbs, the A-iPower SUA2301iD belongs in the expected weight range for inverter generators which produce 1500 to 2500 rated watts. If weight matters to you, one of the champions in this power range is the Genmax GM2000i with only 34.2 pounds.
- If compared to generators capable of producing a similar running wattage, this inverter generator with a lowest emitted noise of 62 dBA can be considered somewhat noisy. If you are concerned with noise, check out the Honda EU2200i, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 48 dBA.
- In terms of its autonomy, the SUA2301iD can operate for up to 9 hours at a 25% load, placing it within the lower bracket among generators of similar type and power range. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the DuroMax XP2300iH, reaching up to 13 hours.
- While run time is vital, it hinges on the fuel capacity. To grasp the full picture, we must also factor in fuel efficiency. This inverter generator provides better fuel efficiency than most others in its wattage range, consuming approximately 0.1 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the Westinghouse iGen2800c, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.08 GPH, may be the right generator for you.
