Description
Zoom on the A-iPower SUA2301iD
To sum up, the A-iPower SUA2301iD is a compact and lightweight portable inverter generator tailored for:
- Tailgating and campground aficionados with the desire of enjoying power anywhere they go
- Amateur DIY lovers
- RV travellers looking for even more independence
In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Delivering 120V, the A-iPower SUA2301iD is enhanced by dual-fuel technology, providing power and versatility. Running on gasoline, it boasts a running wattage of 1,800W and a starting wattage of 2,300W. Alternatively, when propane-powered, it delivers 1,600 running watts and 2,000 starting watts. Moreover, the parallel capability (parallel kit included) enables power output to double when paired with another similar or compatible unit, providing increased energy capacity and versatility for a wide range of needs.
A-iPower’s Fuel Sense technology automatically selects the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) depending on availability and prioritizes LPG. Thus, if a propane tank with enough LPG is connected, the generator will automatically use LPG. If the propane cylinder valve is closed, or if there is not enough LPG remaining in the tank, the generator will use gasoline.
The inverter generator is rated for a noise of 62 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an office). Its starting mechanism is based on a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism.
As for its running time, the SUA2301iD, along with its 0.9 gallon fuel capacity, can run for up to 9 hours with a full tank filled with gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.1 GPH). Unfortunately, and despite our research efforts, we couldn't find any information regarding its runtime when using propane.
The <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the SUA2301iD ensures a clean sine wave output, providing a secure power source for your sensitive electronics through its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel is equipped with the following 3 AC outlets:
In addition, it provides 3 DC outlets: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle enabling simple battery charging for added ease and two 5V USB ports (1 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C) with which charging of electronics like mobile phones and tablets is made convenient.
Even if this A-iPower generator isn't quite RV Ready, it still allows for an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor (included), thanks to its L5-30R receptacle.
Portability
As the A-iPower SUA2301iD is an inverter generator, its encased design (L21.5 x W12.8 x H21.1 in) offers more aesthetics than a conventional, open frame product. This modern design aims to provide an ideal power solution to recreational users.
With a weight of only 46.2 lbs, the SUA2301iD is deisgned to be a lightweight and easily portable generator. Thanks to its lightweight design, one person can easily move it around, ensuring power availability wherever you travel. This convenience is further enhanced by its telescopic handle, which allows for easy carrying.
Features
One of the many SUA2301iD's features is the digital data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the voltage, lifetime run hours, fuel level, power output and frequency and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status. To offer you even more control and easy operation during nighttime, the panel is LED-lit.
In addition to this info, several light indicators serve to show you when the generator is overloaded and its oil levels are insufficient.
From a security standpoint, the generator is furnished with an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, ensuring peace of mind during operation.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Apart from the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to facilitate setup, the A-iPower SUA2301iD features extra accessories: funnel, battery charging cables, propane hose, RV adapter, oil and tool kit.
The A-iPower SUA2301iD versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA2301iD compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- With a dry weight of 46.2 pounds, the A-iPower SUA2301iD finds itself in the expected weight range for inverter generators able to produce between 1500 and 2500 rated watts. If weight is a key factor for your needs, the Genmax GM2000i is noteworthy for being one of the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 34.2 pounds.
- When compared to devices able to produce a similar running wattage, this inverter generator and its lowest emitted noise of 62 dBA is on the noisier side. For those who are looking for a less noisy device, we suggest the Honda EU2200i. With just 48 dBA, it is one of the most quiet devices in this power range.
- As far as autonomy is concerned, providing up to 9 hours of runtime with a full tank at a 25% load, the SUA2301iD falls into the low end in comparison with other inverters of a comparable power output. If autonomy is your priority, one of the devices of a similar power output with the highest run time is the DuroMax XP2300iH, reaching up to 13 hours.
- While run time is vital, it hinges on the fuel capacity. To grasp the full picture, we must also factor in fuel efficiency. Among generators of similar power, this inverter generator stands out with a better fuel efficiency than most, with consumption rates around 0.1 GPH (gallon per hour) at 25% load. If not satisfied with the afore-mentioned fuel consumption, you may wish to check out the Westinghouse iGen2800c. With a fuel consumption of as little as 0.08 GPH, it is one of the most efficient generators currently on the market.
