Description
The A-iPower SUA2000i provides clean, quiet 2,000 watts of starting power and 1,600 watts of running power. Powered by 79cc A-iPower engine, the generator is ideal for outdoor events such as concerts, camping trips, tailgating parties, racetracks, RVs, and many other applications.
Zoom on the A-iPower SUA2000i
In short, the A-iPower SUA2000i is a compact and lightweight portable inverter generator adequately designed for:
- Camping and tailgating hobbyists looking for a portable power source
- Amateur DIY lovers
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the extra features it benefits from.
Power & Run Time
A-iPower SUA2000i is equipped with a 80 cc Senci OHV 4-stroke engine, running on gasoline and providing 120V, boasting a running wattage of 1,600W alongside a starting wattage of 2,000W. In addition, the device is parallel capable (parallel kit included) and thus, can be linked to a similar or compatible unit for added power.
Rated for 62 dBA (just slightly more noisy than a normal conversation), the inverter generator's starting mechanism relies on a traditional recoil pull-start mechanism.
The SUA2000i boasts a fuel tank capable of holding 1.1 gallon, allowing it to run continuously for up to 10 hours (with fuel usage averaging around 0.11 gallons per hour).
Delicate electronics can be plugged in the AC outlets safely, as the SUA2000i generates a clean sine wave, reaching a <3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 2 AC outlets:
Additionally, it offers 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which charging your batteries is made easy.
This A-iPower generator features an L5-30R receptacle, enabling an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor (included). However, it is still not quite RV ready.
Portability
The A-iPower SUA2000i's characteristic encased inverter generator design (L19.3 x W11.4 x H19 in) provides an aesthetic advantage and contributes to quieter operation compared to any ordinary, open frame product. This type of design is the most modern and convenient way to recreationally generate power.
With its weight totaling only 48.5 lbs, the SUA2000i stands out as a lightweight generator. The device can be easily moved by just one person and thus, its power may be enjoyed on-the-go. Adding to its convenience, the handle (molded in the case) enables easy carrying.
Features
Light indicators on the device will notify you if the oil level is too low, the generator is ready and the generator is on overload.
The fuel level of the inverter generator can be determined quickly, easily, and conveniently with the help of its built-in fuel gauge.
Regarding security, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during operation.
With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the A-iPower SUA2000i also comes with several accessories, including: funnel, battery charging cables and RV adapter.

The A-iPower SUA2000i versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA2000i compare to inverter generators of similar power (between 1500 and 2500 W).
- Since the generator weighs in at a dry weight of 48.5 lbs, the A-iPower SUA2000i belongs in the expected weight range for inverters which can produce between 1500 and 2500 rated watts. If weight is an important consideration for you, the Genmax GM2000i stands out as one of the top contenders in this power category, with a dry weight of 34.2 pounds.
- As this inverter generator has its lowest possible noise of 62 dBA, it should be considered noisier compared to its peers of a comparable running wattage. If you are concerned with noise, check out the Honda EU2200i, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 48 dBA.
- The SUA2000i, falls within the average autonomy range compared to inverter generators of a roughly same power, with a run time of up to 10 hours at a 25% load and a full tank. If extended autonomy is what matters most to you, the Yamaha EF2800i could be an excellent choice, offering one of the longest run times among units in its power category, reaching up to 14.7 hours.
- The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. With an estimated fuel consumption of 0.11 GPH at a 25% load, this inverter generator aligns with the average gasoline usage range of comparable products. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.08 GPH, the Westinghouse iGen2800c is a device you could look out for.
The bottom line
- RV adapter included
- Parallel kit included
- Inverter
- Decent weight (48.5 lbs)
- Decent run time
- Decent fuel efficiency
- No data center
- On the noisy side (62 dBA)

No. It's the alternate version, the SC2000i that has a Yamaha engine.
How is this unit in higher altitudes such as 6000 ft? (Asked August 28, 2020)
We had reports of people running it at 7000 ft without any issues. However, we'd recommend contacting the manufacturer to obtain an altitude kit. Make sure to also read our article on operating a generator in high altitudes.
