Description

The A-iPower Energy Cube SUA15000EC provides 15,000 watts of starting power and 12,000 watts of running power. It’s ideal for commercial use or as backup power for your home during emergencies. Geared for performance, this generator is combined with an efficient high output maintenance-free brushless alternator, which delivers maximums starting power.

Zoom on the A-iPower SUA15000EC

In summary, the A-iPower SUA15000EC is a powerful portable generator especially useful for professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working.

In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device, along with its emission compliance information.

Power & Run Time

The A-iPower SUA15000EC in use

The A-iPower SUA15000EC

The A-iPower SUA15000EC is powered by a 680 cc (24 hp) Senci V-Twin engine. It delivers 120/240V, runs on gasoline and offers a running wattage of 12000W as well as a peak wattage of 15000W.

At a noise rating of 85 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an alarm clock), the generator is started via a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included).

Thanks to a fuel capacity of 8 gallons, the SUA15000EC can operate for around 7 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 1.14 GPH).

Sensitive electronics can be safely plugged in the AC outlets, as the SUA15000EC produces a clean sine wave, with a <5% Total Harmonic Disruption (THD).

Outlets

The control panel features the following 5 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

In addition, it provides 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which you may charge your batteries with ease.

This A-iPower generator features an L5-30R receptacle, enabling an easy RV connection via an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. However, it is still not quite RV ready. Besides, because the SUA15000EC is equipped with a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: it can power your home during a power outage, as it can be easily connected to your breaker box to power your household.

Portability

With its dimensions of L38.7 x W26.8 x H34.9 in, the conventional, open frame design of the A-iPower SUA15000EC offers stability and allows the generator to be raised above ground level. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.

Since the generator weighs 392 lbs, it will be incredibly difficult to manually lift it and transport it, even though it is technically considered to 'be portable' (in the sense that it is movable). However, this lack of maneuverability is compensated by its wheel kit (⌀4"), with which you can conveniently shift it, once it's on the ground.

In addition, the device is equipped with a lift hook on the top of its frame, which provides extra safety during the loading, unloading and transport of the generator.

Features

The SUA15000EC's control panel

The SUA15000EC's status and activity may be monitored conveniently via the control panel, as it features a convenient meter, which displays voltage, frequency and lifetime hours.

In addition to this info, a light indicator serves to show you when its oil levels are insufficient.

Thanks to a built-in fuel gauge, the generator allows you to quickly, conveniently and easily check the gas level at a glance.

From a security point of view, the generator is equipped with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), giving you a peace of mind during use.

With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the A-iPower SUA15000EC also comes with several accessories, including: battery charging cables, oil and tool kit.

Emissions

The A-iPower SUA15000EC is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. It can therefore be sold and purchased in all 50 states, including California.

Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, which makes it suitable for use in forested areas.

The A-iPower SUA15000EC versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA15000EC compare to generators of similar power (between 10000 and 14000 W).

  • Considering its dry weight of 392 pounds, the A-iPower SUA15000EC is one of the heavier generators producing between 10000 and 14000 running watts. Regarding dry weight, one of the champions in the same power range is the A-iPower SUA13000EFI, with a dry weight of only 218 lbs.
  • If compared to generators capable of producing a similar running wattage, this generator with a lowest emitted noise of 85 dBA can be considered somewhat noisy. If you are concerned with noise, check out the A-iPower SUA13000EFI, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 69 dBA.
  • As far as autonomy is concerned, providing around 7 hours of runtime with a full tank at a 50% load, the SUA15000EC falls into the low end in comparison with other devices of a comparable power output. If concerned with autonomy, one of the products of a comparable power output, which offers the highest run time, is the Powerhorse 13000ES, boasting with around 15 hours.
  • While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank’s capacity and thus, doesn’t say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. Compared to its peers, this generator is not exactly fuel efficient, compared to similarly powerful devices, with an estimated fuel consumption of 1.14 GPH at a 50% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI, with a fuel consumption of 0.78 GPH could be in your good books.

Price comparison

As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 10000-14000W generators, the A-iPower SUA15000EC is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

I wish I could find a natural gas conversion kit for this other than that it’s a real good generator just not very cheap on gas

    + PROS:
    • It runs my whole house even a 28,000 BTU window unit
    - CONS:
    • It burns about 8 gallons of gas and 7 hours at 50% usage
