Zoom on the A-iPower SUA15000EC

To sum up, the A-iPower SUA15000EC is a powerful portable generator tailored for professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working..

In the upcoming sections, you'll discover its power characteristics, the array of outlets it presents, its overall portability, and the additional features it possesses.

Power & Run Time

The A-iPower SUA15000EC in use

The A-iPower SUA15000EC

Featuring a 680 cc (24 hp) Senci V-Twin engine, the A-iPower SUA15000EC operates using gasoline, providing 120/240V, with a running wattage of 12,000W and a starting wattage of 15,000W.

With a noise rating of 85 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an alarm clock), the generator's ignition is facilitated by a user-friendly and hassle-free electric starter (battery included).

Featuring a 8 gallons fuel tank, the SUA15000EC guarantees continuous power for around 7 hours at 50% load on a full tank (fuel consumption around 1.14 GPH).

Featuring a <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), the SUA15000EC delivers a clean sine wave, guaranteeing the safety of your sensitive electronics plugged into its AC outlets.

Outlets

The control panel is equipped with the following 5 AC outlets:

Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI
120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle
120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle
120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle

In addition, it provides 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle making battery charging a breeze.

This A-iPower generator isn't quite RV Ready, but it features an L5-30R receptacle, allowing a simple RV connection through an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, thanks to its twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the SUA15000EC is transfer switch ready, facilitating easy hookup to your breaker box to provide backup power for your home during blackouts.

Portability

Measuring L38.7 x W26.8 x H34.9 in, the A-iPower SUA15000EC showcases a classic open frame layout, guaranteeing stability and simple maintenance access to components, while facilitating air circulation. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.

While technically classified as 'portable' due to its ability to be moved, the 392 lbs of this generator make manual lifting and transportation incredibly difficult. However, the lack of maneuverability can be offset with its wheel kit (⌀4"), which allows for convenient shifting once the generator is placed on the ground.

In addition, the device is equipped with a lift hook on the top of its frame, which provides extra safety during the loading, unloading and transport of the generator.

Features

The SUA15000EC's control panel

The SUA15000EC's status and activity may be monitored conveniently via the control panel, as it features a convenient meter, showing voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours metrics.

In addition to this info, a light indicator on the device will signal if its oil levels are insufficient.

Featuring a built-in fuel gauge, the generator offers quick, convenient, and easy gas level checks at a glance.

From a security standpoint, the product offers an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.

With the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), letting you start the generator quickly, the A-iPower SUA15000EC also comes with several accessories, including: oil, tool kit and battery charging cables.

The A-iPower SUA15000EC versus other generators

The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA15000EC compare to generators of similar power (between 10000 and 14000 W).

  • With its weight of 392 lbs, the A-iPower SUA15000EC is one of the heaviest generators in the 10000-14000 rated wattage category. If weight is a key factor for your needs, the DuroStar DS13000MX is noteworthy for being one of the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 209 pounds.
  • When comparing it to devices with a similar running wattage, this generator's lowest noise level of 85 dBA puts it alongside the noisier units. If you'd like a less noisy alternative, the DuroMax XP16000iH is a strong contender. It boasts a noise rating of 67 dBA, placing it among the quietest generators in its power category.
  • The SUA15000EC's autonomy is somewhat low end compared to devices of its power range, as it reaches only around 7 hours at 50% load on a full tank. If run time is one of your main concerns, the Powerhorse 13000ES could be worth looking at. It boasts one of the highest run times among units of comparable power, lasting around 15 hours.
  • Run time is crucial, but it heavily relies on the fuel tank's capacity. Thus, considering fuel efficiency alongside is essential. This generator is somewhat less fuel-efficient than devices of comparable output: its estimated fuel consumption reaches 1.14 GPH at a 50% load. If you wish to get a unit of similar power, but with one of the best fuel efficiency, you could consider the A-iPower SUA13000EFI, which has an impressively low fuel consumption of 0.78 GPH.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 10000-14000W generators, the A-iPower SUA15000EC is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

I wish I could find a natural gas conversion kit for this other than that it’s a real good generator just not very cheap on gas

    + PROS:
    • It runs my whole house even a 28,000 BTU window unit
    - CONS:
    • It burns about 8 gallons of gas and 7 hours at 50% usage
