Description
Zoom on the A-iPower SUA13000EFI
In a nutshell, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI is a powerful portable generator mostly geared towards:
- Professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure
- Homeowners who want to be able to use the most necessary devices in their household, even during a blackout
- RV travellers who wish to upgrade their experience to another level
In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device.
Power & Run Time
Featuring a 459 cc Senci SC460 OHV 4-stroke engine, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI operates using gasoline, providing 120/240V, with a running wattage of 10,000W and a starting wattage of 13,000W.
The generator, rated for a noise of 69 dBA (less noisy than a normal conversation), provides flexibility in starting, offering both a standard recoil pull-rope starting mechanism and an intuitive and practical electric starter (battery included).
The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system enhances the engine's reliability, lowers fuel consumption, improves startup, reduces servicing, boosts stale fuel resistance, and offers better altitude adaptability.
Equipped with a 6.6 gallons fuel tank, the SUA13000EFI ensures continuous operation for around 8.5 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel usage approximately 0.78 gallons per hour).
The <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the SUA13000EFI ensures a clean sine wave output, providing a secure power source for your sensitive electronics through its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel provides the upcoming 6 AC outlets:
Additionally, it features 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which you may charge your batteries with ease.
With its 14-50R outlet, this A-iPower unit is RV-ready for owners with a 50-amp service in their RVs. In addition, with its twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the SUA13000EFI is designed to be transfer switch ready, allowing easy connection to your breaker box for powering your home during a blackout.
Portability
At L28 x W21 x H22.8 in, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI boasts a traditional open frame structure, ensuring stability and allowing for convenient maintenance access to components, promoting air circulation. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
Although this generator is technically considered 'portable' (in the sense that it can be moved), its 218 lbs make it incredibly difficult to manually lift and transport. Nevertheless, thanks to its wheel kit and its folding handle (a decent solution to its lack of maneuverability), the generator can be easily moved, once placed the ground.
Features
For easy status and activity monitoring of the SUA13000EFI, its control panel integrates a digital data center, offering insights into the lifetime run hours.
In addition to this info, a light indicator serves to show you when its oil levels are insufficient.
Equipped with a built-in fuel gauge, the generator facilitates swift gas level checks.
In terms of security, the generator features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), ensuring peace of mind during its use.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Along the basic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), useful for starting the generator right away, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI's package also includes these accessories: oil, battery charging cables and tool kit.
The A-iPower SUA13000EFI versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA13000EFI compare to generators of similar power (between 9500 and 10500 W).
- Considering its weight, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI registers at a modest 218 pounds, placing it among the lighter generators in the 9500 to 10500 rated wattage selection. If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the Westinghouse WGen9500TFc, with a dry weight of just 203.4 pounds.
- Rated at a lowest possible noise level of 69 dBA, this generator positions itself amongst the most quiet of the products of similar power.
- As for its runtime, the SUA13000EFI runs for around 8.5 hours at a 50% load, placing it towards the low end among comparable products. Furthermore, considering the run times, one of the generators which have a roughly same power output, with the highest autonomy, is the Powerhorse 13000ES, as it provides around 15 hours.
- While the run time is an important parameter, it is dependent on the fuel tank's capacity and thus, doesn't say much on its own unless we consider fuel consumption as well. At an estimated fuel consumption of 0.78 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load, this generator is a rather fuel-efficient one within its wattage category. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the Pulsar G12KBN, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.67 GPH, may be the right generator for you.
The bottom line
- CO Sensor
- Several accessories included
- GFCI Outlets
- Electric start
- Clean sine wave
- Electronic Fuel Injection
- Lightweight for its kind (218 lbs)
- Quiet for its power (69 dBA)
- Fuel efficient
- No remote start
- Relatively low run time

Can I get a propane adapter kit for this unit (Asked January 23, 2021)
There are no official conversion kits. The unit was designed to run on gasoline only. Since altering the fuel system could void your warranty and be an emissions violation, we cannot recommend this modification.

User Reviews
Note that no where on the generator or manual does it say clean sine wave and the sticker says < 23% THD – there are serious questions as to whether or not it really has low THD and a consistent answer seems difficult to come by.
Unusable for events. Died while powering a stage and bouncy castle with kids in it. In all it died five times in the first 25hours.
