Zoom on the A-iPower SUA13000EFI
In a nutshell, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI is a powerful portable generator mostly geared towards:
- Professionals in need of safely powering high-intensity work or lighting equipment
- Homeowners who want to be sure of their ability to power their fridges, cooking tools, heating and lighting equipment during power failures
- RV travellers wishing to enhance their freedom and nomad lifestyle
In the following paragraphs, we shall explore the power characteristics, available outlets, portability, and any additional features of the device, along with its emission compliance information.
Power & Run Time
The A-iPower SUA13000EFI houses a 459 cc Senci SC460 OHV 4-stroke engine, which provides 120/240V, consumes gasoline and delivers a running wattage of 10,000W along with a peak wattage of 13,000W.
With a noise rating of 69 dBA (less noisy than a normal conversation), the generator features a conventional pull-start mechanism, but also a convenient and easy-to-use electric starter (battery included).
The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system enhances the engine's reliability, lowers fuel consumption, improves startup, reduces servicing, boosts stale fuel resistance, and offers better altitude adaptability.
Thanks to a fuel capacity of 6.6 gallons, the SUA13000EFI can operate for around 8.5 hours at 50% load with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.78 GPH).
As the SUA13000EFI produces a clean sine wave, with a <5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), sensitive electronics may be plugged in the AC outlets safely.
Outlets
The control panel features the following 6 AC outlets:
It also sports 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle allowing you to easily charge your batteries.
If you own an RV with a 50-amp service, you can consider this A-iPower unit as RV-ready, as it features a 14-50R outlet. In addition, due to the featured twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the SUA13000EFI is transfer switch ready: you may connect it to a breaker box to power your household during a power outage.
Portability
The A-iPower SUA13000EFI has the following dimensions: L28 x W21 x H22.8 in. In combination with its conventional, open frame design, they provide support and allow the generator to be raised above ground level. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.
Although this generator is technically considered 'portable' (in the sense that it can be moved), its 218 lbs make it incredibly difficult to manually lift and transport. However, this lack of maneuverability is compensated by its wheel kit and its folding handle, with which you can conveniently shift it, once it's on the ground.
Features
The control panel of the SUA13000EFI includes a digital data center, which assists you in monitoring its status and activity, as it provides information on the lifetime run hours.
In addition to this info, a light indicator allows you to instantly see if its oil levels are insufficient.
A built-in fuel gauge allows for a quick, easy and convenient check of the fuel level of the generator.
As for its security measures, the device features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), letting you use it with a peace of mind.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down.
Apart from the typical documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab), which lets you start it right away, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI also is packed along with the following accessories: oil, battery charging cables and tool kit.
Emissions
The A-iPower SUA13000EFI is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. Therefore, its sale and purchase are permitted in all of the 50 states, including California.
Moreover, it features a spark arrestor and therefore, can be used in forested areas.
The A-iPower SUA13000EFI versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA13000EFI compare to generators of similar power (between 9500 and 10500 W).
- In terms of its dry weight, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI stands at only 218 lbs, meaning that is one of the lighter devices of the 9500-10500 rated wattage category If you are concerned by weight, one of the champions in the above-mentioned power range is the Rainier R12000DF, with a dry weight of just 196 pounds.
- At a lowest noise rating of 69 dBA, this generator is one of the most quiet devices of similar power.
- The SUA13000EFI's autonomy is somewhat low end compared to devices of its power range, as it reaches only around 8.5 hours at 50% load on a full tank. Concerning the run times, one of the several devices with a comparable output, offering the highest autonomy, is the Powerhorse 13000ES, which is able to run for around 15 hours.
- The run time is important, but also hugely depends on the capacity of the fuel tank and doesn't mean much if we don't talk about fuel consumption as well. With an estimated gasoline consumption of 0.78 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load, this generator is among the more fuel efficient of the products in the above-mentioned wattage range. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.55 GPH, the Rainier R12000DF is a device you could look out for.
Price comparison
As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 9500-10500W generators, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this generator nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

Can I get a propane adapter kit for this unit (Asked January 23, 2021)
There are no official conversion kits. The unit was designed to run on gasoline only. Since altering the fuel system could void your warranty and be an emissions violation, we cannot recommend this modification.

User Reviews
Note that no where on the generator or manual does it say clean sine wave and the sticker says < 23% THD – there are serious questions as to whether or not it really has low THD and a consistent answer seems difficult to come by.
Unusable for events. Died while powering a stage and bouncy castle with kids in it. In all it died five times in the first 25hours.
