Zoom on the A-iPower SUA13000EFI
In a nutshell, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI is a powerful portable generator mostly geared towards professionals who want to be able to deliver results, even during a power failure.
The following sections will present you in detail its power characteristics, the different outlets it offers, its overall portability, the extra features it benefits from, and any relevant emission compliance details.
Power & Run Time
The A-iPower SUA13000EFI's core is the 459 cc Senci SC460 OHV 4-stroke engine, which runs on gasoline. With an output of 120/240V, it provides a running wattage of 10000W and a peak wattage of 13000W.
The generator is rated for a noise of 69 dBA (less noisy than background music). Its starting mechanisms include a simple traditional pull-start mechanism and a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included).
The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system enhances the engine's reliability, lowers fuel consumption, improves startup, reduces servicing, boosts stale fuel resistance, and offers better altitude adaptability.
With a full tank, the SUA13000EFI can operate for around 8.5 hours at 50% load (fuel consumption around 0.78 GPH), thanks to its fuel capacity of 6.6 gallons.
As the SUA13000EFI produces a clean sine wave, with a <5% Total Harmonic Disruption (THD), sensitive electronics may be plugged in the AC outlets safely.
The control panel provides the upcoming 6 AC outlets:
Additionally, it features 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which charging your batteries is made easy.
As it features a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the SUA13000EFI is transfer switch ready: in case of a power outage, you will be easily able to connect it to a breaker box and power your household.
The dimensions of the A-iPower SUA13000EFI, which are L28 x W21 x H22.8 in, and its typical, open frame design provides stability and enables the generator to be raised above ground level. The design is ideal for rough environments and demanding outdoor use.
Even though this device may be technically portable (as in movable), manipulation and transportation without special equipment can be a challenge, as it weighs 218 pounds. However, this lack of maneuverability is compensated by its wheel kit and its folding handle, with which you can conveniently shift it, once it's on the ground.
One of the many SUA13000EFI's features is the data center, included in its control panel, which conveniently provides information on the lifetime run hours and thus, helps you monitor its activity and status.
In addition to this info, a light indicator shows you if its oil levels are insufficient.
A built-in fuel gauge allows for a quick, easy and convenient check of the fuel level of the generator.
As for its security measures, the device features an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), letting you use it with a peace of mind.
It also includes a carbon monoxide sensor. This sensor is designed to monitor the level of carbon monoxide present during the generator's operation. If the generator is positioned incorrectly and carbon monoxide levels rise to an unsafe level, the generator will automatically shut down. It’s a welcomed additional security feature, but don’t forget to always take your generator outside (opens in a new tab).
Besides the classic documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) to get you promptly started, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI also comes with some accessories: oil, tool kit and battery charging cables are included.
The A-iPower SUA13000EFI is EPA-approved and CARB-compliant. Thus, selling and purchasing this generator is allowed in each of the 50 states, including California.
Moreover, it features a spark arrestor, which makes it suitable for use in forested areas.
The A-iPower SUA13000EFI versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower SUA13000EFI compare to generators of similar power (between 9500 and 10500 W).
- Weight-wise, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI has only 218 lbs, which renders it one of the lighter generators which produce 9500 to 10500 rated watts. In terms of weight, one of the champions in their power range is the Rainier R12000DF, standing at just 196 lbs.
- Since this generator is rated for a lowest possible noise of 69 dBA, it can be considered as one of the most quiet of the products generating similar power.
- As far as autonomy is concerned, providing around 8.5 hours of runtime with a full tank at a 50% load, the SUA13000EFI falls into the low end in comparison with other devices of a comparable power output. Concerning the run times, one of the several devices with a comparable output, offering the highest autonomy, is the Powerhorse 13000ES, which is able to run for around 15 hours.
- Run times are important, yet thanks to their dependence on the fuel capacity, they should be judged along with the fuel consumption of the device. At an estimated fuel consumption of 0.78 GPH (gallon per hour) at 50% load, this generator is a rather fuel efficient one within its wattage category. If you wish to further improve in the area of fuel efficiency, the Rainier R12000DF, which boasts with a gas consumption of only 0.55 GPH, may be the right generator for you.
As you can see from this interactive chart, when compared to other 9500-10500W generators, the A-iPower SUA13000EFI is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.

Can I get a propane adapter kit for this unit (Asked January 23, 2021)
There are no official conversion kits. The unit was designed to run on gasoline only. Since altering the fuel system could void your warranty and be an emissions violation, we cannot recommend this modification.
