In the forthcoming sections, you'll delve into its power characteristics, the various outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the additional features it boasts.
Power & Run Time
Running on gasoline, the A-iPower SUA12000E operates with a 459 cc (16 hp) A-iPower OHV 4-stroke engine with cast iron sleeve, delivering 120/240V, with a running wattage of 9,000W and a peak wattage of 12,000W.
The generator is rated for a noise of 78 dBA (less noisy than a shower). Its starting mechanisms include a traditional recoil pull-start mechanism and an easy-to-use and reliable electric starter (battery included).
With its 7 gallons fuel tank, the SUA12000E can operate for around 9 hours at 50% load when fully fueled (with fuel usage averaging around 0.78 GPH).
As the SUA12000E has a high THD (<23%), it is not recommended to use it to power sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel features the following 6 AC outlets:
Moreover, it boasts 1 DC outlet: there's a 12V 8A (cigarette lighter style) receptacle with which you may charge your batteries with ease.
If your RV requires a 50-amp service, consider this A-iPower unit RV-ready, as it includes a 14-50R outlet. In addition, with its twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the SUA12000E is configured to be transfer switch ready, allowing straightforward connection to your breaker box to supply backup power to your home during outages.
Portability
At L27.6 x W27 x H26.8 in, the traditional open frame structure of the A-iPower SUA12000E ensures stability while facilitating convenient maintenance access to components and promoting air cooling. The featured design is ideal for the outdoors and all tough environments.
Despite its 206 lbs, the generator falls under the category of 'portable,' signifying its movability, although its weight may hinder easy portability. However, its challenging mobility is solved by its wheel kit (⌀9.5") and its folding handle, which will ease its displacement, once it is on the floor.
Features
Included in the control panel of the SUA12000E, a digital data center assists in tracking its status and activity by providing details on the lifetime run hours.
In addition to this info, the device’s light indicator will display if the oil level is too low.
Thanks to its built-in fuel gauge, the generator allows you to quickly, conveniently, and easily check the gas level at a glance.
In terms of security, the generator features an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, ensuring peace of mind during its use.
Alongside the standard documentation and an owner's manual (opens in a new tab) for quick setup, the A-iPower SUA12000E is bundled with additional accessories: tool kit, oil and battery charging cables.

- Considering its weight, the A-iPower SUA12000E registers at a modest 206 pounds, placing it among the lighter generators in the 8500 to 9500 rated wattage selection. If weight is a key factor for your needs, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc is noteworthy for being one of the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 187.4 pounds.
- Among the generators of a comparable running wattage, this generator with a lowest noise of 78 dBA can be judged as noisy. For those who are looking for a less noisy device, we suggest the DuroMax XP11000iH. With just 61 dBA, it is one of the most quiet devices in this power range.
- At a 50% load, the SUA12000E offers around 9 hours of runtime on a full tank, placing it within the average autonomy range among generators of similar power level. If you wish to prioritize autonomy, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc shines as one of the top contenders, offering one of the highest run times among generators with similar power output, totaling around 12 hours.
- Run time is crucial, but it heavily relies on the fuel tank's capacity. Thus, considering fuel efficiency alongside is essential. With a fuel usage of about 0.78 GPH at a 50% load, this generator falls within the typical gasoline consumption range observed in comparably powerful products. If you are concerned with gasoline efficiency, having a fuel consumption of just 0.66 GPH, the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc is a device you could look out for.
The bottom line
- GFCI Outlets
- Electric start
- Lightweight for its kind (206 lbs)
- Decent run time
- Decent fuel efficiency
