Power & Run Time
The A-iPower AP4000's design includes a gasoline-fueled 208 cc (7 hp) Senci OHV 4-stroke engine. With a 120V output, it gives a running wattage of 3,000W and also a peak wattage of 4,000W.
Rated for 68 dBA (less noisy than background music), the generator's starting mechanism relies on a classic hand-operated recoil starting mechanism.
The AP4000's fuel tank, boasting 4 gallons, allows it to operate for around 12 hours at 50% load with a full tank (with an estimated fuel consumption of 0.33 GPH).
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 3 AC outlets:
The inclusion of a TT-30R receptacle (TT for 'Travel Trailer') makes this A-iPower generator RV Ready, ideal for providing power to recreational vehicles.
Portability
With dimensions of L23.2 x W16.9 x H18.5 in, the standard open frame design of the A-iPower AP4000 provides stability and easy maintenance access to components, as well as good air circulation. The generator is designed for ideal use outdoors and in rough environments.
As the AP4000's weight is only 95 lbs, it can follow you and your power needs anywhere. In addition, it is even easier to grab and move the generator around thanks to its open frame design.
Features
The AP4000 and its control panel include a handy voltmeter that allows you to easily monitor power output anytime. This feature comes handy when monitoring its status and activity.
In addition to this info, a light indicator serves to show you when the oil level is too low.
The inclusion of a built-in fuel gauge in the generator streamlines gas level checks for quick and convenient assessments.
From a security standpoint, the product offers an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, allowing you to use it with a peace of mind.
In addition to the standard documentation and the user manual for prompt setup, A-iPower has also included accessory] in the packaging of the AP4000.

The A-iPower AP4000 versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the A-iPower AP4000 compare to generators of similar power (between 2500 and 3500 W).
- With a dry weight of 95 pounds, the A-iPower AP4000 finds itself in the expected weight range for generators able to produce between 2500 and 3500 rated watts. Weight-conscious users may find the Pulsar PGD40iSCO appealing, as it is one of the top contenders in this power range, weighing just 46 pounds.
- When comparing it to devices with a similar running wattage, this generator's lowest noise level of 68 dBA puts it alongside the noisier units. If you are concerned with noise, check out the Honda EU3000iS, which is one of the least noisy generators in its power range, with a noise rating of just 50 dBA.
- The AP4000 provides a higher run time than similarly powerful devices, reaching around 12 hours at 50% load. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the Predator 4375, with around 16 hours.
- Even though run times are undoubtedly important, they are dependent on the fuel capacity to a large extent. For a more wholesome picture, we must take into consideration the fuel consumption of the generator. This generator reaches an estimated fuel consumption of 0.33 GPH (gallon per hour) at a 50% load, making it average, for the previously mentioned wattage range. If fuel consumption is your top priority, we suggest to check out the Pulsar PGD40iSCO, which has a fuel consumption of only 0.22 GPH and thus, is one of the most efficient devices in our database.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 2500-3500W generators, the A-iPower AP4000 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget generator.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- RV Ready
- High run time
- Decent weight (95 lbs)
- Decent fuel efficiency
- No electric start
- On the noisy side (68 dBA)
