As the EU2200i and the EU3200i are both Honda generators, they benefit from the same level of quality and attention to detail. They are both part of Honda's Super Quiet series (EU), which is ideal for recreational and home backup applications.
Power Comparison
The following charts are provided to show you at a glance how the main specs of the Honda EU2200i compare to the Honda EU3200i.
- Power: With a running wattage of 2,600 W, the Honda EU3200i will allow to power more appliances and tools than the 1,800 running watts of the Honda EU2200i. Moreover, compared to the 2,200 starting watts of the EU2200i, the EU3200i and its starting wattage of 3,200 W will give more power to start the appliances which require an additional boost to get their motor running.
- Runtime: When loaded to 25% of their max capacity, the EU3200i offers a higher runtime on a full tank than the EU2200i: it can operate for up to 8.6 hours, whereas the EU2200i offers a maximum runtime of 8.1 hours.
- Fuel Efficiency: With a gasoline consumption at 25% load of 0.12 GPH (gallon per hour), the Honda EU2200i is more fuel efficient than the EU3200i and its 0.14 GPH. The former's operation will therefore cost less in terms of the money spent on gasoline. Inverter generators like these 2 are of the most fuel efficient (and quiet) type.
- THD: Both generators offer a low THD (<3% for the Honda EU2200i and <3% for the Honda EU3200i) and are therefore perfectly suitable to safely power your sensitive electronic devices.
- Noise: With a noise of 48 dBA, the EU2200i allows for a quieter operation than the 54 dBA of the EU3200i. The former will therefore be the most suitable for you if you take noise emission seriously.
Portability Comparison
- Bulkiness: With dimensions of L20" x W11.4" x H16.7", the Honda EU2200i offers a much more compact experience of power generation than the Honda EU3200i and its L22.5" x W12" x H17.8".
- Weight: The EU2200i and its 47.4 lbs is somewhat lighter than the 59.1 lbs of the EU3200i.
- Portability: Both offer a handle, which improves your grip when you wish to move them around.
Feature Comparison
- Starting System: Both devices can get running via a conventional pull-start mechanism.
- EFI: The Honda EU3200i benefits from an Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, which enhances its engine's reliability, lowers its fuel consumption, improves its startup, reduces its servicing, boosts its stale fuel resistance, and offers better altitude adaptability.
- Outlets: With a total of 3 AC outlets, the EU3200i offers more AC receptacles than the EU2200i, which has 2 AC outlets. None of them feature GFCI outlets. In addition, it is worth noting that they both only produce 120V. For more detailed information regarding all their respective receptacles, refer to the EU2200i's and the EU3200i's product pages.
- Data Center & Fuel Gauge: Each of these 2 portable generators is equipped with a data center allowing you to conveniently monitor some aspects of the power output. Besides that, thanks to the digital fuel fauge provided by its data center, the Honda EU3200i provides instant visibility of the fuel level.
- Technology: Both units benefit from Honda's CO Minder carbon monoxide monitoring technology. Besides that, both devices offer you the convenience of Honda's My Generator mobile app, which allows you to easily keep an eye on your generator's stats.

As an off grid subzero Alaskan who owned a very reliable non preheater Honda EU2000 for several years, I upgraded to the EU2200i without the preheater installed and burned through many spark plugs before installing the preheater—and still have carburetor icing problems yet not as bad as before.
If you own the EU2200i buying extra spark plugs and a Milwaukee 18-volt heat gun to remove the EU2200i carburetor icing is a requirement if you don’t want to die from exposure.
I am looking forward to upgrading to the Honda EU3200i with Electronic Fuel Injection.
