Predator 13000 vs 9500 - The Differences

Further down the page, you'll find some explanations regarding the key similarities and differences between the Predator 9500 and the Predator 13000.

But before checking out explanations regarding their power, portability, and features, here's a table that summarizes the main pros of each of these 2 generators:

Predator 9500Predator 13000
Predator 9500Predator 13000
  • Inverter
  • Low THD
  • Quieter
  • Less bulky
  • DC outlet(s)
  • Tri-fuel
  • Higher running & starting watts
  • Lighter
  • Remote start
  • More outlet types
  • More AC outlets
  • Far less expensive

As the 9500 and the 13000 are both Predator generators, they benefit from the same level of quality and attention to detail.

Power Comparison

The following charts are provided to show you at a glance how the main specs of the Predator 9500 compare to the Predator 13000.

  • Fuel: The Predator 13000 has the advantage of being able to run on 3 different types of fuel (tri-fuel), whereas the other only runs on gasoline.
  • Power: With a running wattage of 10,000 W, the Predator 13000 will allow to power more appliances and tools than the 7,600 running watts of the Predator 9500. Moreover, compared to the 9,500 starting watts of the 9500, the 13000 and its starting wattage of 13,000 W will give more power to start the appliances which require an additional boost to get their motor running.
  • Runtime: We unfortunately lack the data to compare the runtimes of these 2 generators. Predator only provided data @25% load for one, and @50% load for the other. It makes little sense to compare runtimes at different loads.
  • Fuel Efficiency: For the same reasons as pointed out above, we do not see any sense in comparing fuel consumption at different loads. Inverter generators like the Predator 9500 are usually much more fuel efficient and quiet.
  • THD: The Predator 9500 with its low THD (<5%) is the only of these 2 generators that allows you to safely power your sensitive electronic devices (the Predator 13000 has a THD <23%, which is too high for electronic products).
  • Noise: There's an important difference in the emitted noise between these 2 generators. In fact, the 9500 produces as low as 67 dBA, but the 13000 is rated for a minimum dBA of 78.5. As previously mentioned, inverter generators such as the 9500 offer a much quieter operation.

Portability Comparison

  • Bulkiness: When compared, the Predator 9500 and its dimensions of L31" x W23.8" x H28.9" offer a slightly more compact experience than the L30.3" x W29.2" x H27.2" of the Predator 13000.
  • Weight: The 13000 and its 226 lbs is somewhat lighter than the 257 lbs of the 9500.
  • Portability: Both products benefit from a wheel kit, which greatly enhances their maneuverability. Both offer a folding handle, which improves your grip when you wish to move them around.

Feature Comparison

  • Starting System: Both devices can be started either via a pull-start mechanism or an electric starter. The Predator 13000 offers another layer of convenience, as it can be remotely started.
  • Outlets: With a total of 7 AC outlets, the 13000 offers more AC receptacles than the 9500, which has 6 AC outlets. Yet, they both feature GFCI outlets. The latter also offers a DC output. In addition, it is worth noting that they can both produce either 120 or 240V. For more detailed information regarding all their respective receptacles, refer to the 9500's and the 13000's product pages.
  • Data Center & Fuel Gauge: Each of these 2 portable generators is equipped with a data center allowing you to conveniently monitor some aspects of the power output. Besides that, these 2 products are fitted with a fuel gauge allowing to see their fuel level at a glance.
  • Technology: Both units benefit from Predator's CO Secure carbon monoxide monitoring technology.
