Predator 9500 vs 9000 - The Differences

Further down the page, you'll find some explanations regarding the key similarities and differences between the Predator 9000 and the Predator 9500.

But before checking out explanations regarding their power, portability, and features, here's a table that summarizes the main pros of each of these 2 generators:

Predator 9000Predator 9500
Predator 9000Predator 9500
  • Less bulky
  • Lighter
  • Far less expensive
  • Higher running & starting watts
  • Inverter
  • Quieter
  • On wheels
  • Folding handle
  • USB connectivity
  • Data center

As the 9000 and the 9500 are both Predator generators, they benefit from the same level of quality and attention to detail.

Power Comparison

The following charts are provided to show you at a glance how the main specs of the Predator 9000 compare to the Predator 9500.

  • Power: With a running wattage of 7,600 W, the Predator 9500 will allow to power more appliances and tools than the 7,250 running watts of the Predator 9000. Moreover, compared to the 9,000 starting watts of the 9000, the 9500 and its starting wattage of 9,500 W will give more power to start the appliances which require an additional boost to get their motor running.
  • Runtime: We unfortunately lack the data to compare the runtimes of these 2 generators. Predator only provided data @25% load for one, and @50% load for the other. It makes little sense to compare runtimes at different loads.
  • Fuel Efficiency: For the same reasons as pointed out above, we do not see any sense in comparing fuel consumption at different loads. Inverter generators like the 9500 are usually much more fuel efficient and quiet.
  • Noise: With a noise of 67 dBA, the 9500 allows for a quieter operation than the 73.5 dBA of the 9000. The former will therefore be the most suitable for you if you take noise emission seriously.

Portability Comparison

  • Bulkiness: With dimensions of L26.9" x W22" x H22.8", the Predator 9000 offers a much more compact experience of power generation than the Predator 9500 and its L31" x W23.8" x H28.9".
  • Weight: Weighing 195 lbs, the 9000 is much lighter than the 257 lbs of the 9500.
  • Portability: As the 9500 benefits from a built-in set of wheels, it is easier to move it once on the ground than the 9000. Even though the pictures of the latter may show wheels, they are not included with the unit and are a separate purchase. To the contrary of the 9000, the 9500 benefits from a folding handle, to help you get a better grip anytime you wish to move your portable generator.

Feature Comparison

  • Starting System: Both devices can be started either via a pull-start mechanism or an electric starter.
  • Outlets: The 9000 and the 9500 both offer 6 AC outlets. They also both feature GFCI outlets. Both of them also feature a DC output. However, the 9000 does not provide an out-of-the-box USB connectivity. In addition, it is worth noting that they can both produce either 120 or 240V. For more detailed information regarding all their respective receptacles, refer to the 9000's and the 9500's product pages.
  • Data Center & Fuel Gauge: Being equipped with a data center, the Predator 9500 allows for a better monitoring of its power generation than the Predator 9000. Besides that, these 2 products are fitted with a fuel gauge allowing to see their fuel level at a glance.
  • Technology: Both units benefit from Predator's CO Secure carbon monoxide monitoring technology.
